A New Spin on DIY: Do-It-Yourself Credit Repair!

These days, we hear a lot about DIY. Everywhere you turn, it's DIY home repair, DIY interior design, DIY electronics repair (unless you're an electrician, I'm gonna advise you to stay away from that one!), and the list goes on and on. But what about that little four letter word that haunts most of us at one time or another?

D-E-B-T.

Yep, debt. If we don't handle our debts exactly the right way or run into some sort of financial troubles, our credit can suffer and then we'll have bad credit. So many people are suffering needlessly from the stigma of bad credit, and from all the other problems that go along with having bad credit. You can't buy a new car when you need one. You can't get a loan for a house when you find the perfect place. You can't get a credit card. Or how about this: You can't get a job! With many employers running credit checks as part of the pre-employment screening process, your bad credit could disqualify you completely from certain jobs and take points away from your otherwise good record. This is a good enough reason alone to take the bull by the horns and clean up that credit.

And you truly can do it yourself. Lynn Carnes and I have teamed up on this one and have several articles on the WomenCorp site to get you started. Check out our Squidoo lens, too.

If you're ready to get started right away, just go here, read the information, and you'll be on your way to a brand new life. The kind of good life that awaits you when you have good credit! Here's to your fabulous future!

Boost Your Energy Today!

Check out the new post by women's fitness expert Heather Picken on the site today. If you're like most business women, you're always on the go, always busy, and very often exhausted. What to do?

No, lattes are not the answer...and not even one of those pricey energy drinks. Heather really knows her stuff when it comes to fat loss for women (and we all know that's a tricky one - especially when we pass 30!) and women's particular fitness challenges. We're happy to have her as one of our contributing authors and look forward to more of her helpful advice.

Enjoy!

Women In Business Are ALWAYS Busy!

Well, the third issue of 2008 is now live and you're sure to enjoy the new articles our busy partners have written for you. As promised, check out the latest magazine, hot off the Internet...

http://www.womencorp.org

One thing I always find, no matter where I go, is that women are busy. Too busy! Most of us have 10 or 15 different hats we wear and can change them, "at the drop of a hat", as needed to fit the situation. It's so hard to relax - if we ever have the time. But, relaxing is important. Perhaps it is the most important. So stop first, take a few minutes - just five little minutes - to relax, breathe deeply, and watch this video prepared by our very own career coach, Lynn Carnes. If you've seen it before, see it again. Then, check out the rest of the magazine. Studies show that regular relaxation actually boosts our productivity.

And there is so much more...so go take a peek now..

Let us know what you like and what you'd like to see more of. It really helps us to help you! I hope you have a peaceful and very productive day!!

Did You Hear the News???

Much of Alabama was covered with a blanket of snow this past weekend. Albeit, a mighty thin blanket, but a blanket nonetheless. Unfortunately, it didn't last the day. The ground was so relatively warm that the melt began almost immediately. And now, so many of us are stuck with extra bread and milk and the recipes for cornbread made with loaf bread, milk, and a dash of cornmeal are hitting the emails already.

Have you checked out the WomenCorp site lately? Hard to believe we've only been publishing this since last August. We've come a long ways since then! A lot of new friends, a few new partners on the site, and a lot of great new content.

Today, why don't you go check out one of our newer partners, Jennifer Siebel, founder of Women’s Independent Cinema. Jennifer's just starting to produce content for us and the first piece is a movie trailer from "Amuse Bouche: A Chef's Tale". Watch it and let us know what you think. All the movies are produced by independent women filmmakers from around the world - most you've never even heard of before. This is a fantastic way to discover new films and talented new filmmakers and to explore topics of interest to women. Okay, go on, check it out!

Talk to you again soon,

Snow in Alabama: Winter Weather

It's been so long since Alabama got real winter weather, we just don't know what to do! The weather guys are predicting snow tonight and tomorrow for Alabama and now there's no bread or milk at the supermarket. What's with that?!?

Now, if you don't know much about Alabama, you've got to understand that most people here (unless they've done time above the Mason Dixon line) can't drive in the snow. So when it snows, because we don't have sanding trucks and shovel trucks to clean the roads, everything closes. Pretty much everything. Wherever you are, you're stranded. Most people just "hunker down" and plan to spend the days (that's how long it takes to melt) at home. We're counting on having electricity...

Well, if it actually does snow, we all have bread and milk and that sure sounds tasty, huh? And, if it snows, I'll be sitting here in front of my computer (provided there is electricity) and maybe I'll post something over the weekend - a picture of Alabama snow maybe?

Have a super weekend and check out a new article on the WomenCorp site from Kimberly Lainson and get some great ideas on what you can do to liven those boring days!

Do You Know What You're Worth?

Priceless, right? Yeah, me too!

Seriously, though, this is one of our favorite subjects here at WomenCorp and surely its one of yours, too, we'd bet. One of the issues is that we, as women, may have a distorted view of our monetary value due to background and social conditioning.

Here's an excerpt from Elinor Stutz's latest article on the WomenCorp site:

Most female entrepreneurs beginning their own business seem to suffer from their own perceived “lack of worth” syndrome. They are so accustomed taking a back seat as housewives and mothers or volunteering for the community greater good, that their inherent skill set has been greatly diminished in terms of monetary value.

Check out the entire article and make one of your resolutions to first, get clear on your true value, and second, to start earning it!

Have a great weekend!

What's Your Dream?

Today, I'm profiling one of our newest articles and hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did. Join Pat Lynch, WomensRadio Editor-In-Chief and Host of “Speak Up!” as she meets with the Executive Director of Soroptimist International of the Americas, Leigh Wintz. Leigh shares with us what it takes to become empowered and to begin living your dreams through Soroptimist’s campaign entitled “Live Your Dream.”

Founded in 1921, Soroptimist International of the Americas is an international organization for business and professional women who provide volunteer service to their communities. Almost 40,000 Soroptimists in about 20 countries and territories contribute time and financial support to community–based and international projects benefiting women and girls. The name, Soroptimist, means “best for women,” and that’s what the organization strives to achieve. Soroptimists are women at their best working to help other women to be their best.

I'll have to admit, until I read this article and listened to the interview myself, I didn't know much about the organization. But wow, I am sold on it now and this campaign is just super. So, go on now, check it out, go to the Soroptimist site, explore, and think about how you can get involved.

Enjoy, and have a great day!
